In celebration of exemplary leadership in ethical business practices and service excellence by Saskatchewan business and professional organizations, the Better Business Bureau of Saskatchewan will host the 8th annualTorch Awards event the evening of Tuesday, March 20th, 2012 at Queensbury Convention Centre in Regina.

The Better Business Bureau of Saskatchewan is excited to announce that Inspector Kerry Petryshyn of the RCMP Commercial Crimes Office in Ottawa will be the guest speaker at the event.  Inspector Petryshyn has 23 years of policing experience with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  He has served in a variety of roles through his career including General Duty Policing and Highway Patrol Enforcement, assignment to Customs & Excise Investigations covering the international border between Maine and New Brunswick, and responsibilities in federal and international fraud investigations including personal and corporate bankruptcy.  Inspector Petryshyn has managed a 911 Police Dispatch Center and acted as the RCMP's National Counterfeit Coordinator.  Inspector Petryshyn is currently working in the Commercial Crime Branch at the RCMP National Headquarters in Ottawa and is responsible for National Policy related to Major Frauds and Bankruptcy, and has oversight responsibility for the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre operations.

With the robust and buoyant Saskatchewan economy forecast to continue in coming years, the Better Business Bureau expects fraudulent activity to remain high in our marketplace.  Consumers and businesses alike will continue to be victimized by an increasingly sophisticated criminal element employing modern technology to take what doesn’t belong to them.   This celebratory Torch Awards event represents an opportunity for Saskatchewan citizens to learn about the current state of fraud from a senior leader on the front line of this continuing battle for a trustworthy marketplace in Saskatchewan and Canada.

Tickets to this exciting and informative evening can be booked now, and the BBB recommends that you call to book your seats today.  You may contact the Better Business Bureau of Saskatchewan at (306) 352-7601 or toll free to 1 (800) 352-7601.   You can also email us at info@bbbsask.com or contact us online at www.sask.bbb.org.
