The BBB has received copies of two unrelated emails from Saskatchewan residents. The first is an unsolicited “job offer” from an organization with an email identifier recorded as “transairway.eu” intended to get recipients to mistakenly identify with legitimate business names like TransAir in the UK, Airtrans Airways, a legitimate airline service based in the USA and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, or Air Transat which does operate in Saskatchewan. The message was directed to a consumer at her business email address on February 18th.

On November 28th, the BBB was advised that a business in Saskatchewan had received a telemarketing call from an organization alleging they were calling from Occupational Health and Safety and seeking updated information through the completion and filing of some forms. The updated information required payment for or in association with the forms via a credit card. The call came from a toll free 1 (866) telephone number. Unfortunately the business had not recorded the other digits of the telephone number so a complete phone number is not yet available.

In November 2012, the BBB received information from 2 businesses in Saskatchewan regarding advertising that has appeared in faxed solicitations. It is clear that business owners in Saskatchewan are receiving requests soliciting information and quoting pricing in small print with layouts and names used in such a way as to influence the businesses that they are dealing with the regional yellow pages publisher in Saskatchewan, DirectWest, and in fact DirectWest was solicited directly. To date the BBB has not received copies of any invoices issued to Saskatchewan businesses or any indication from Saskatchewan businesses that they may have mistakenly paid for or contracted with this directory service.
